Use the mobile line you want linked to your NSSF membership. Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom lines all work. If the code doesn’t go through on the first try, wait a moment and dial again.

Follow the registration prompts
Select the new member registration option from the menu, then enter your National ID number and personal details exactly as they appear on your ID.

Confirm and submit
Check what you’ve entered on the final prompt before submitting. USSD sessions can’t be edited once sent — a typo here means starting over from the beginning.

Receive your NSSF number by SMS
Your NSSF membership number arrives on the same line, usually within minutes. Save the message — you’ll need this number for M-Pesa contributions and for any branch visit.
Registering by phone gets you an NSSF number quickly, but you still need to visit a branch with your ID to make your first contribution and confirm your details — the same branch step that online registrants go through.
