How to Log In to the HEF Student Portal

Go to the HEF Student Portal Sign-In Page

Visit portal.hef.co.ke/auth/signin directly, or get there via hef.co.ke, helb.co.ke, or universitiesfund.go.ke by clicking Student Portal, then Sign In.

Log In With Your Email or ID Number, and Password

Enter either your registered email address or your ID number in the login field, enter your password, then click Sign In. If you don’t have an account yet, use the “Register if you don’t have an account” link instead.

Verify Your Phone Number (First Login Only)

The first time you log in after activating your account, you’ll be asked to enter a valid telephone number to receive a verification code by SMS. Enter the code to continue. If it expires before you use it, click Resend for a new one.

Forgotten your password? Use the Forgot Password link on the sign-in page and follow the instructions sent to your registered email to set a new one.

Alternative Login: HELB via eCitizen

HELB also runs a login option through eCitizen at helb.ecitizen.go.ke, where you can choose Login with eCitizen or Login with OTP instead of the standard HEF Student Portal sign-in. This is a separate access route from portal.hef.co.ke, so use whichever account you originally registered with.
