Know the difference between “selected” and “placed”
Before official placements are released, the same SMS service only confirms which schools a learner applied to — not a final placement. KNEC publicly flagged misinformation during the 2025 cycle after some reports implied results were out when only the application-check service had launched. How the 12-School Selection Actually Works
Placement isn’t based on KJSEA marks alone. Before results, every learner selects 12 senior schools in total, split by priority:

How to Change a Grade 10 Placement (Review & Transfer Process)
If a learner is placed in a school or pathway that doesn’t fit, the Ministry opens a formal review window — and in the pioneer cycle, there were actually two of them:
