1. Who Needs Assisted SHA Registration?

SHA registration involves two steps that many people do not complete correctly. The first step — dialling *147# — is straightforward. The second step — completing the Means Test on afyayangu.go.ke — is where most people get stuck. Until that second step is done, your status stays Pending and you are not covered.

Assisted SHA registration is the right option if any of the following apply to you:

  • You dialled *147# and got a confirmation SMS but your status still shows Pending
  • You cannot log into afyayangu.go.ke or do not know how to navigate it
  • You want to add dependants (spouse, children, parents) to your cover
  • You registered before but are not sure if your registration was completed properly
  • You tried to register and something went wrong — wrong ID entered, phone mismatch, or an error on the portal
  • You are registering on behalf of an elderly parent or family member who cannot use a smartphone

Important: If you have not started registration at all, read our SHA registration guide first. If after reading it you would still prefer someone else to handle it, come back here.

3. What You Need to Provide

To complete assisted SHA registration on your behalf, we need a small amount of information from you. You send this via WhatsApp — no need to share passwords or log-in credentials.

Information Required

Send the following details on WhatsApp when you contact us:

  1. Your National ID number
  2. Your full name as it appears on your ID
  3. The phone number registered to your SHA account (the one you used when dialling *147#)
  4. For dependants — their full name, National ID or Birth Certificate number, and relationship to you
⚠️ We will never ask for your M-Pesa PIN or afyayangu password

If anyone claiming to offer SHA registration assistance asks for your M-Pesa PIN, bank details, or account passwords — do not share them. MyCyber only needs the details listed above.

4. How the Process Works — Step by Step

Once you send your details on WhatsApp, here is exactly what happens:

1

We Check Your Current Status

We first confirm your current status on afyayangu.go.ke using your National ID. This tells us exactly where the process broke down — Pending, Inactive, Not Found, or a portal error.

  1. We log the issue and tell you exactly what we found
  2. You only pay once we confirm the problem — not before
2

We Complete the Means Test

The Means Test on afyayangu.go.ke is the step most people miss. It determines your monthly contribution amount based on your income category. We complete this on your behalf using the correct category for your situation.

  1. We navigate to afyayangu.go.ke and complete the Means Test section
  2. We select the correct socio-economic category — formal employee, self-employed, or vulnerable/indigent
  3. The portal generates your monthly contribution amount
3

We Add Your Dependants

If you have provided dependant details, we add them to your SHA account at this stage. Each dependant needs their own ID or Birth Certificate number.

  1. We navigate to the My Dependants section on afyayangu.go.ke
  2. We add each dependant using the details you provided
  3. Dependant status shows Pending briefly then updates to Active within 24–48 hours
4

We Confirm and Send You Proof

Once registration is complete, we check that your status has updated and send you a screenshot via WhatsApp as confirmation.

  1. We verify your status on afyayangu.go.ke shows Active
  2. We send you a screenshot of your Active status via WhatsApp
  3. We tell you your M-Pesa Paybill details for future contributions — Paybill 200222, account = your National ID
KES 200 — same day

5. What Happens After Registration

Once assisted SHA registration is complete, your status on afyayangu.go.ke should show Active within 24–48 hours. Here is what to do next:

  • Check your status yourself — use the SHA registration status check guide to verify your Active status at any time
  • Make your first contribution — pay via M-Pesa to Paybill 200222, account number = your National ID. Keep contributions current every month to avoid your cover lapsing
  • At the hospital — present your National ID. The hospital verifies your SHA status on their provider portal. If they cannot find you within 72 hours of registration, ask to speak with the SHA focal person
  • If your payment does not reflect — read our guide on SHA payment not reflecting for the exact steps to follow

Contributor Not Found at the hospital? This sometimes happens when the member portal has updated but the hospital provider portal has not yet synced. Read our full guide on SHA Contributor Not Found — it covers all 6 causes and exact fixes.

6. Frequently Asked Questions

I already dialled *147# and got an SMS — do I still need assisted registration?

Possibly. The *147# step only starts the registration process. Your cover is not active until the Means Test on afyayangu.go.ke is also completed. Check your status on afyayangu.go.ke — if it shows Pending, you are not yet covered and we can complete the process for you.

Can I get assisted registration for my parent or elderly relative?

Yes. This is one of the most common reasons people use the service. You provide their National ID number and registered phone number — we handle the portal process and confirm their status is Active. They do not need to be present or have a smartphone.

How is the KES 200 paid?

Via M-Pesa only, after we have confirmed your problem and told you exactly what we will do — not before. We send you the payment details on WhatsApp once we have diagnosed the issue.

What if my status does not show Active after registration?

Status normally updates within 24–48 hours. If it has not updated after 48 hours, WhatsApp us and we will follow up at no extra charge. This is included in the KES 200 service.

Is MyCyber an official SHA registration agent?

MyCyber is an independent digital assistance service — not affiliated with the Social Health Authority or any government body. We complete the same official registration process on afyayangu.go.ke and *147# that you would do yourself. All official SHA information should be verified at afyayangu.go.ke or by calling the SHA toll-free helpline 0800 720 601.

Can I do SHA registration myself instead?

Yes. Read our step-by-step SHA registration guide which walks you through the full process from *147# to the Means Test. If you get stuck at any point, come back and we will complete it for you.
