KMTC Mombasa campuses at a glance
Mombasa County has 2 KMTC campuses: Mombasa Campus, the older and larger of the two, sitting next to Coast General Hospital on Mombasa Island since 1948, and Port Reitz Campus, a more specialised campus near Port Reitz Hospital, Moi International Airport and the SGR Mombasa terminal, operational since 1985. The two are on opposite sides of the county with different course lists — they are not the same campus.

KMTC Mombasa was founded in 1948 to train nurses and midwives — one of the oldest medical training institutions on the Kenyan coast. It sits on a 2.2-acre plot on Mombasa Island with over 1,200 students. Its position next to Coast General Hospital gives students direct clinical access to a major county referral facility. Additional clinical placements run through Tudor Sub-County Hospital and other Coast Province health facilities.

Port Reitz Campus opened in 1985, originally to train Clinical Officers. Its location next to Port Reitz Hospital and its proximity to Moi International Airport and the SGR terminal creates a clinical environment with high volumes of orthopaedic, trauma and emergency cases. The HND in Anaesthesia makes it one of the few KMTC campuses offering a higher diploma programme. Student activities include Muslim Group, Christian Union, SDA clubs, football, athletics and netball.
KMTC Mombasa fee structure 2025/2026
KMTC sets fees centrally per student category — not by campus. Whether you’re placed at Mombasa Campus or Port Reitz Campus, a Regular Kenyan student pays KES 82,200 in Year 1 and KES 78,000 per year in Years 2 and 3 — the same rate at all 104 KMTC campuses. Accommodation rates are set by each campus and communicated on reporting day.
All fees are paid through the Jiunge platform at jiunge.com using Paybill 222222. Cash at the campus or transfers to individual staff are not accepted and the college will not be liable for such payments.
