NSSF Portal Login Kenya: Member Self Service & eService Sign In Guide

NSSF has two separate online portals — and many members go to the wrong one, which is why login appears to fail. This guide explains which portal to use, exactly how to sign in to each, what to do if your password is wrong or your account is locked, and what you can do once you are logged in.

The Two NSSF Portals — Which One Do You Need?

Before attempting to log in, identify which portal matches what you are trying to do. They are completely separate systems with separate login credentials.

PortalWho it is forWhat you can doLogin
selfservice.nssf.or.keMembers and employersView contribution statement, download statement, M-Pesa payment info, employer payroll processingLog In
eservice.nssfkenya.co.keMembers registering or activating, employers submitting SF24 returnsNew member registration, account activation, existing member eCertification, recertification, SF24 employer return submission, e-statementsLog In
Most members need selfservice.nssf.or.ke

If you want to check your contributions or download your statement, use the Self Service portal at selfservice.nssf.or.ke — not the eService portal. The eService portal (eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke) is primarily used during first-time registration and account activation, and by employers submitting monthly returns.

How to Log In to the NSSF Member Self Service Portal

The Member Self Service portal at selfservice.nssf.or.ke is where you check your contribution statement and access member services after your account has been activated.

  1. Open the login page

Go to selfservice.nssf.or.ke/login/ in your browser. Use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for best results — the portal can behave unpredictably on older browsers.

  2. Enter your username or email address

Type the username or email address you registered with during account activation. This is the credential you set when you completed the registration process on the eService portal and activated your account with your PIN Key.

  3. Enter your password

Type the password you created during registration. Passwords are case-sensitive — check that Caps Lock is off before typing.

  4. Click Log In

Click the Log In button. If your credentials are correct, you will be taken to your member dashboard where you can access your contributions statement and member services.

Tick “Remember Me” if you are using your own device and want the portal to keep you signed in between sessions. Do not tick this on a shared or public computer.

How to Log In to the NSSF eService Portal

The eService portal at eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke handles registration, activation, and for employers, the submission of monthly SF24 payroll returns. There are two separate login points within this system.

Members — eService Login

Go to eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke/eSF24/faces/login.xhtml. Enter the username and password you created when you first registered. This portal also gives you access to the eStatements system for downloading a formatted version of your contribution history.

Employers — SF24 Return Submission

Employers use the same eService portal URL to log in and submit monthly SF24 payroll returns. Your login credentials here are the employer username and password created during employer registration and activation — separate from any individual member credentials.

eStatements — Separate Login

There is a third login point for the e-Statements Account system at eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke/eStatementsAccount/faces/login.xhtml. This is specifically for accessing and downloading formatted contribution statements through the eService system.

What You Can Do After Logging In

Common Login Problems and How to Fix Them

Wrong username or password
Most common cause of failed login
Fix: Check Caps Lock is off. Try your email address instead of username, or vice versa. If still failing, reset your password using the “Lost your password?” link on the login page.
Account not yet activated
You completed online registration but never visited a branch to get your PIN Key, or you got the PIN Key but never completed activation
Fix: You cannot log in until activation is complete. Go to Member Activation and enter your username, password, and PIN Key. If you do not have a PIN Key, visit any NSSF branch with your original ID and printed registration slip.
Forgot username or password
Account was activated previously but credentials are lost
Fix: Click Lost your password? on the login page and follow the instructions. Note: this only works if your account was previously activated. If not yet activated, go to Member Activation first.
Forgot both username AND password
No way to recover credentials through the normal reset
Fix: Use Member Recertification — re-enter your registration details with a new username and password. This requires a branch visit to obtain a new PIN Key before you can activate the recertified account.
Portal not loading or timing out
Browser compatibility issue or portal downtime
Fix: Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again. Switch to Google Chrome if you are using another browser. Try on mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. If the portal is down, wait and try again later.
Going to the wrong portal
Using eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke when you need selfservice.nssf.or.ke or vice versa
Fix: For contribution statements and general member access, always use selfservice.nssf.or.ke/login/. The eService portal is only needed for first-time registration and employer SF24 returns.

Password Reset — Step by Step

If you have forgotten your password and your account is already activated, you can reset it without visiting a branch.

  1. Go to the login page

Visit selfservice.nssf.or.ke/login/ and click the Lost your password? link below the login button.

  2. Enter your username or email

Type either the username or the email address linked to your NSSF account, then click the reset button. NSSF will send a password reset link to your registered email address.

  3. Check your email

Open your email inbox and look for a message from NSSF. Check your spam or junk folder if it does not appear in your main inbox within a few minutes.

  4. Click the reset link and set a new password

Click the link in the email, enter your new password twice to confirm it, and save. Return to the login page and sign in with your new password.

Password reset not working?

The password reset only works if your account has been activated. If you registered online but never completed activation using your PIN Key from the NSSF branch, the reset email will not work — you need to complete activation first. If you cannot remember your username or the email address you used, proceed to Member Recertification instead.

Member Recertification — When to Use It

Member Recertification is the process for members who have completely lost access to their account and cannot recover it through the normal password reset. This is different from a simple password reset.

  • You use Recertification when you have forgotten both your username and password, or when you no longer have access to the email address linked to your account
  • You go to Member Recertification and re-enter all your registration details with a new username and new password
  • After submitting, you must visit any NSSF branch with your original ID to get a new PIN Key
  • You then return to Member Activation and activate using the new PIN Key
  • Once activated, your recertified account is live and you can log in normally

Other Ways to Access Your NSSF Account

If the portal is unavailable or you prefer not to log in through a browser, NSSF provides three additional access channels:

📱

NSSF GO Mobile App

Download “NSSF GO” free from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Log in with your portal credentials and NSSF membership number. View statements and contribution history directly on your phone.

📞

USSD — *303#

Dial *303# on any Kenyan mobile network. Select Member Services, then Contribution Information. Works without internet. You will need your NSSF number and 4-digit USSD PIN.

💬

WhatsApp — 0704 303 303

Save +254 704 303 303 and send “Hi” to start the NSSF chatbot. Select Member Services, verify with your National ID or NSSF number, and access contribution information.

🏢

NSSF Branch — In Person

Any NSSF branch can retrieve your membership number, provide a PIN Key for activation or recertification, and assist with account access issues. Bring your original National ID.

Existing Member eCertification — What It Is

If you have an NSSF membership number from before the self-service portal existed but have never created an online account, you do not register as a new member. Instead, use Existing Member eCertification:

  • Go to Existing Member eCertification
  • You will need your existing NSSF membership number — if you do not remember it, check via USSD *303# or visit any NSSF branch with your ID
  • Complete the eCertification form and visit an NSSF branch for your PIN Key
  • Activate your account using the PIN Key, then log in normally

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NSSF Member Self Service portal login link?

The direct login link for the NSSF Member Self Service portal is selfservice.nssf.or.ke/login/. You enter your username or email address and your password, then click Log In. This is the portal where you access your contribution statement.

Why can’t I log in to the NSSF portal even though my password is correct?

There are two common reasons. First, your account may not yet be activated — you must have visited an NSSF branch to collect your PIN Key and completed the activation step before logging in is possible. Second, you may be going to the wrong portal — for the contribution statement and general member access, always use selfservice.nssf.or.ke/login/, not the eService portal at eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke.

I have an NSSF number but I have never logged in online. What do I do?

If you already have an NSSF membership number but have never set up an online account, use Existing Member eCertification at selfservice.nssf.or.ke/existing-member-ecertification/. You will create a username and password, then visit an NSSF branch to get your PIN Key before activating the account online.

What is the difference between Member Activation and Member Recertification?

Member Activation is what you do after registering for the first time — you enter your username, password, and the PIN Key issued at the NSSF branch to activate your new account. Member Recertification is a recovery process for members who have completely lost access to an existing account and cannot reset the password through normal means. Recertification requires re-entering all your details, visiting a branch for a new PIN Key, and then re-activating.

Can I access the NSSF portal on my phone?

Yes. The Self Service portal at selfservice.nssf.or.ke works on mobile browsers — use Google Chrome for best results and switch to desktop mode if the layout appears broken. NSSF also has the NSSF GO mobile app, available free on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, which provides the same member dashboard access including contribution statements.

I forgot the email address I used to register. How do I recover my account?

If you cannot remember the email address linked to your account, the password reset email cannot reach you. In this case, proceed to Member Recertification — re-enter your registration details with a new username, new email address, and new password, then visit an NSSF branch for a new PIN Key to complete reactivation.

What is the NSSF eService portal used for?

The eService portal at eservice.nssfkenya.co.ke is used for new member registration, account activation, existing member eCertification, member recertification, and — for employers — submission of monthly SF24 payroll returns and access to the eStatements system. Most individual members only use it during first-time registration. For ongoing access to your contribution statement, the Self Service portal at selfservice.nssf.or.ke is the correct portal.

What can I see after logging in to the NSSF portal?

Once logged in to the Member Self Service portal, you can view and download your NSSF contributions statement, which shows every contribution recorded against your membership number including the month, amount contributed, and whether it was remitted by your employer. You can also access M-Pesa payment details, download the Member Self Service Guide, and access other member resources.
