KCB Paybill Number: 522522
KCB Bank Kenya’s M-Pesa business number is 522522. It’s published on KCB’s own website as the paybill for standard account deposits, for opening an M-Benki account, and for Mobi Chama group accounts — the number doesn’t change between them. What changes is the account reference you type in.
How to Pay KCB From M-Pesa
This is the flow KCB itself publishes on its FAQ page for sending money to a KCB account via Lipa na M-Pesa:
Go to your M-Pesa menu
Select Lipa na M-Pesa.
Enter Paybill number 522522
The same business number applies whoever you’re paying at KCB.
Enter the KCB account number you’re transferring to
This is the recipient’s account — your own or someone else’s, depending on who you’re paying.
Enter the amount and your M-Pesa PIN
Confirm to send. You’ll get an M-Pesa SMS confirmation with your transaction code.
Banking by USSD: *522#
KCB’s mobile banking platform is also reachable directly, without going through M-Pesa at all. KCB references *522# across several of its own product pages — for the mobile loan application flow, for Simba Points redemption, and as the general entry point to its USSD banking menu.
Once you’re registered on KCB mobile banking, the menu gives you account balance and mini-statement lookups, transfers between your own accounts or to other banks, and access to the KCB mobile loan facility, alongside card and PIN management.
How Fees Actually Work
KCB does not publish a separate “KCB paybill fee” — paying 522522 through Lipa na M-Pesa is charged under Safaricom’s standard M-Pesa Paybill tariff, the same mechanism used for any business paybill in Kenya. What you’re charged depends on the amount you send and the tariff band the transaction falls into, and it’s shown to you on the confirmation screen before you enter your PIN — that figure is the one to trust, since Safaricom periodically revises its published bands.
Two things worth knowing before you send:
- M-Pesa caps a single Paybill transaction at KES 250,000, with a daily limit of KES 500,000 across transactions — both are Central Bank of Kenya-set limits, not KCB-specific ones.
- Moving money between your own M-Pesa wallet and a linked KCB M-Pesa account (the separate savings product) is free in both directions — that’s stated directly on KCB’s KCB M-Pesa product page, and is a different flow from paying 522522.
If a Payment Doesn’t Reflect
Money left M-Pesa but I can’t see it in my KCB account
Confirm the M-Pesa SMS shows the transaction went to 522522 with the correct account number, then contact KCB directly with the transaction code (contact details below) so they can trace it on their end.
I typed the wrong account number
Contact KCB immediately with your transaction code. The sooner you report it, the more likely the bank can intervene before the funds are fully processed to the wrong account.
I confused 522522 with 522559 (or the other way round)
They’re different products on KCB’s own systems — 522522 is the general Bank paybill, 522559 is specifically for KCB M-Pesa loan repayments. Contact KCB with your transaction code to have a misdirected payment corrected.

FAQ: KCB Paybill
What is KCB Bank’s paybill number?
522522. KCB uses this same business number across its mobile banking products — M-Benki, Mobi Chama, and standard account deposits all route through it.
Is 522522 also used for KCB M-Pesa loan repayments?
No. KCB M-Pesa — the separate savings-and-loan product accessed through the M-Pesa menu — uses its own paybill, 522559, with your ID number as the account reference.
What do I enter in the account number field?
The KCB account number you’re sending money to. For an M-Benki deposit specifically, KCB’s own instructions say to type ID followed by your National ID number with no space, e.g. ID123456789.
Can I manage my KCB account without the M-Pesa menu?
Yes — dial *522# directly. KCB’s own USSD banking service covers balance checks, transfers, statements, card management, and its mobile loan product.
