Frequently asked questions

Is the KMTC portal open for September 2026 intake?
Yes. KUCCPS opened applications for the KMTC September 2026 intake on July 22, 2026. The deadline is August 11, 2026. Pre-service applications go through the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.ac.ke. In-service and upgrading programme applications go directly through the KMTC admissions portal at kmtc.ac.ke.
Can KMTC students apply for HELB?
Yes. KMTC students who are placed through KUCCPS are eligible for HELB loans. You apply through the HELB portal at helb.co.ke once you have your KMTC admission letter and student registration number. The government allocates HELB funds specifically for KUCCPS-placed KMTC students, so direct-entry students may have different eligibility.
What is the minimum grade to join KMTC?
For certificate programmes, you need at least C- (minus) in KCSE with the required cluster subjects. For diploma programmes — including nursing, clinical medicine, and pharmacy — you need at least C (plain) overall plus specific grades in cluster subjects. For example, Diploma in Clinical Medicine requires C plain overall with C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics. Grade requirements vary by programme, so check the KUCCPS portal for the specific cut-off for each course.
How many campuses does KMTC have?
KMTC has 104 campuses spread across Kenya’s 44 counties. The counties with the most campuses are Kakamega (5), Siaya (4+), Kiambu (4), Homa Bay (4), Meru (4), Machakos (4), Nairobi (3), Kisii (3), Busia (3), Bungoma (3), Kisumu (3), and Kitui (3).
How do I pay KMTC fees?
All KMTC fees are paid through the Jiunge platform at jiunge.com using government Paybill 222222. You log in with your KMTC registration number, select “Tuition Fees” under View Services, enter the amount, and pay via M-Pesa or bank transfer. Cash payments to staff or direct transfers to personal numbers are not accepted and the college will not be liable for such payments.
When is the KMTC graduation in 2025?
KMTC held its 94th graduation ceremony in November 2025. The graduation list was made available on the KMTC website and campuses. For the most current graduation date and list, check kmtc.ac.ke directly.
How do I log in to the KMTC student portal?
Go to kmtc.ac.ke and click on Student Portal or E-Learning. Log in using your student registration number and password. If you are logging in for the first time, use your registration number as the default password. If the portal is down or you cannot access it, try again during off-peak hours — early morning or late evening — as the portal experiences congestion during intake periods and results release dates.
Can I join KMTC with a D+?
D+ qualifies you for some certificate programmes, specifically those with lower cluster subject requirements. Certificate in Health Insurance Management, for example, recently lowered its Biology minimum to D plain. However, most KMTC certificate programmes require C- minimum and diploma programmes require C plain. Check the specific programme requirements on the KUCCPS portal for the current intake.
